The Lynchburg City Schools, with its Tradition of Excellence, recognizes the uniqueness and worth of all students and will teach each student the concepts, knowledge, and skills necessary to be a thinking, productive, and responsible citizen.
At Perrymont Elementary School, we serve students in grade levels Pre-K to 5.
Kindergarten classes include children from all ability levels. Small and large group instruction occurs within the classroom to meet the needs of all students. Direct pre-reading/reading instruction is provided for all kindergarten students. As appropriate, students receive their reading or math instruction within the class, the kindergarten unit, or in another grade.
First through fifth grades are grouped by ability for math and reading/language arts either within the classroom or within the unit to meet the needs of the students. Students are given the opportunity to work above grade level. In science, social studies, and in all other areas, instructional groups include students of all abilities.
Perrymont Elementary School’s mission is to cultivate and develop critical thinkers and responsible citizens by fostering academic success and achievement.
Perrymont Elementary School’s vision is to cultivate lifelong learners and responsible citizens.
Perrymont Elementary School strives to ensure success in student achievement in the areas of reading, writing, math, social studies, and science. The master schedule is developed in accordance with the Lynchburg City Schools guidelines and the Virginia Standards of Quality standards. To effectively manage the instructional time per quarter teachers follow the Lynchburg City Schools’ Learning Outcome Goals (LOGs) pacing guides that are aligned to the Virginia Standards of Learning and the Curriculum Framework by quarter and provide links to a variety of aligned instructional resources created and/or identified by the LCS instructional team.
Perrymont students rotate on resource days through music, art, and movement education. Weekly sessions in the media center are closely correlated to current topics of learning in the regular classroom.
