Pursuant to School Board policies BCEZ and BCFZ, the School Board may appoint advisory councils or committees of citizens of the school division for consultation with reference to specific matters pertaining to local schools. These committees shall serve without compensation for one-year terms and report annually to the Board. Community members who have served in the past may reapply to be considered for the upcoming school year. School Board Committees are limited to one community member and meet monthly. Advisory Committees are limited to 20 members and meet a minimum of 4-5 times annually. Board and Advisory Committee appointments will occur during the first School Board meeting in September.
Board Committees
Finance & Facilities Committee
This committee reviews current practices and needs in the areas of finance and facilities within the school division. Findings and recommendations will be shared with the School Board. The full board will determine appropriate matters for further discussion and subsequent action.
Academic Success Committee
This committee recommends to the board explicit academic performance goals and annually reviews LCS students’ performance relative to those goals. The committee may make any recommendations to the board it deems appropriate for achieving the goals.
Legislative Advocacy & Community Relations Committee
This committee reviews current practices and needs in the areas of communication, community engagement and legislative advocacy. The committee will discover ways the Board can assist in engaging all stakeholders in our community. The committee will also address the development of an ongoing legislative advocacy agenda that will be modified based upon the changing needs of the school division. Findings and recommendations will be shared with the School Board.
Student Discipline Committee
This committee considers appeals of student disciplinary decisions and recommendations of the Superintendent or Superintendent's Designee (Hearing Officer). The Student Discipline Committee comprises three (3) school board members.

School Health Advisory Board
The purpose of the School Health Advisory Board is to assist with the development of health policy in the school division and the evaluation of the status of school health, health education, the school environment, and health services.
Special Education Advisory Committee
The purpose of the Special Education Advisory Committee (SEAC) is to advise the school division of the needs in the education of children with disabilities; participate in the development of priorities and strategies for meeting the identified needs of children with disabilities, submit periodic reports and recommendations regarding the education of children with disabilities to the local school board, assist the local school division in interpreting plans to the community for meeting the special needs of children with disabilities for educational services, review the policies and procedures for the provision of special education and related services prior to the submission to the local school board, and participate in the review of the local school division’s annual plan.

General Career Technical Advisory Committee
The purpose of the General Career and Technical Advisory Committee is to advise, assist and provide support and advocacy for high-quality programs that prepare middle and high school students for successful transition to further education and careers.
