Our Community
Lynchburg, an industrial and commercial center in Central Virginia, is a city of approximately 80,000 persons. It is located on the banks of the James River in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The city offers a wide variety of cultural opportunities; six institutions of higher learning are located in Lynchburg or in the immediate area.
School Description
E. C. Glass is a comprehensive, public high school, 9-12, that offers students the opportunity to prepare for college, careers, military or the world of work. Lynchburg City Schools is accredited by both the Virginia State Department of Education and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.

Beginning with the Class of 2019, students can earn the distinction of Summa Cum Laude, based on the cumulative GPA to that point in their high school career. The thresholds for Summa Cum Laude are noted below for the end of each grade level:
- 9th Grade – 4.3
- 10th Grade – 4.3
- 11th Grade – 4.4
- 12th Grade – 4.5 or higher
