A Character Education Plan has been developed for Perrymont Elementary School which emphasizes and continues to incorporate the LCS character education traits including respect, work ethic, self-discipline, responsibility, honesty, and kindness. Character traits are promoted through our student pledge and during morning meetings.
Students are provided with opportunities for holistic support through the school counselor, behavioral coach, and partnerships with therapeutic organizations offering School Based Mental Health Therapy and Case management services.
School Counselor: Teachers refer students to the school counselors for small group/individual counseling related to social skills and character education. In addition, the school counselor partners with teachers to provide classroom guidance sessions bringing social emotional learning education into the classroom in a blended curriculum structure.
Behavior Support: The Behavior Coach will incorporate character traits in the development of behavior plans for identified students, providing staff with training for behavior structure in classrooms, and responding to behavior concerns as needed for student support.
Partnerships with Clinical Services: Strategic Therapeutic Services clinicians conduct sessions with identified students which encourage and promote character traits, as well as healthy coping mechanisms that provide students with tools for success in school, home and peer relationships. Horizon Behavioral Health offers case management services for students and families to be connected with community resources and support.
