Video modeling is a teaching tool that LAUREL started using three years ago in some of the classrooms. What is video modeling? A video is made of the student performing a desired behavior in the correct way. Most staff has been trained to make these videos. The individual student then watches the video of herself/himself performing the activity correctly. We have seen that with review of these school-made videos, the student is able to better carryover the skill into the school and/or home environment.
This teaching tool has been successful in the school setting with a few of our students. Many of the students at LAUREL enjoy watching videos and seeing images of themselves.
