There are different components of the scheduling process for each grade level. Changes in class recommendations can still be done after the scheduling for rising 9th graders has concluded. Changes are forwarded to the School Counseling Department at Heritage High School.
8th Grade
The school counseling staff from Heritage High School will be available to talk about high school courses and the transition of eighth graders to high school.
Sandusky Middle School counselors will meet with eighth graders, through their English classes, to plan their course of study for ninth grade. A copy of your student’s proposed schedule selections will be sent home after that time for a parent's signature.
This will help ensure that the child will have a schedule they want at Heritage High School for the upcoming school year.
6th and 7th Grade
6th and 7th grade students choose their elective classes for the next year. Teacher recommendations and the student's elective choices will then be sent home for parent approval. Any necessary revisions to recommendations are requested from teachers after students take their SOL tests.
For all students, recommendations are sought from academic instructors and based upon performance, effort, as well as grades. Changes to these recommendations are rare, but do come about from parent requests. It is asked that parents request changes in writing, to the attention of the school counseling office.
