Zayvion St. Hilaire was one of 12 fourth-graders in Virginia to win the Use a Helmet, Prevent Epilepsy contest. The contest was open to all fourth grade students in the state. Students had to submit a poster design to raise awareness for how head injury is the leading cause of epilepsy, and how it can often be prevented by wearing a helmet. Each winner will have his or her artwork featured in the Epilepsy Foundation annual calendar that will be distributed to schools and businesses across the state. Winners and their families will also be invited to attend a breakfast at the State Capitol in Richmond with senators and delegates where they will be further recognized.
Linkhorne Elementary School’s art class used the contest to show how art is a way to visually communicate positive messages that can impact and possibly save peoples' lives when they view it.
