Once again proving that Lynchburg City School’s students are prepared for the future, Heritage High School’s DECA team swept their regional competition winning all thirteen events. DECA is a student organization that prepares students for careers in marketing, management, leadership, and entrepreneurship. Events include hospitality, tourism, management, sports marketing, business services, and finance.
At the January competition each student completed an exam and two “role playing” scenarios in their respective events. Nearly two-hundred students competed from the following schools: Heritage High School, Nottoway High School, Central High School, and Appomattox High School.
Overall winners will compete at the state level in Norfolk in March. State winners move on to compete at the international level later this spring. Last year, Heritage High School had six students compete at the international level.
