Lynchburg City Schools (LCS) is proud to announce that it has received the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award from the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA). The award recognizes the adopted budget for fiscal year 2025, and it reflects the commitment of LCS to meet the highest principles of governmental budgeting. This is the first time LCS has received this distinction.
In order to receive the budget award, LCS satisfied nationally recognized guidelines for effective budget presentation. These guidelines are designed to assess how well an entity's budget serves as a policy document, a financial plan, an operations guide, and a communications device
“We are committed to continually improving service to our community, so it is critical that we as a school system present our budget in a clear, transparent, and comprehensive manner,” said Deputy Superintendent of Operations and Strategic Planning Reid Wodicka. “This honor is a testament to LCS’s commitment to our Tradition of Excellence seen throughout all aspects of the school system, and we are thrilled to receive this achievement on behalf of the entire Lynchburg community.”
The School Board and School Administration began discussions of the FY 2025-2026 budget development process at the Dec. 17 Board work session. Members of the public can track budget updates for the next school year at https://www.lcsedu.net/budget.
