The Lynchburg City School Board has approved the superintendent's recommendation to hire Ms. Lea Gray as the new principal for Linkhorne Elementary School.
Ms. Gray has served as assistant principal at Sheffield Elementary School since 2015. Her administrative duties included providing instructional leadership and discipline management. She played a key role on the school improvement team, providing data and growth plans for each student. She was also a lead administrator for the division-wide elementary alternative education program housed at Sheffield, where she collaborated with other alternative education team members and worked closely with community mental health agencies to promote the well-being of students.
Prior to her administrative role in LCS, she was a middle school teacher in Appomattox and Campbell County Schools and has served as a summer school administrator. She began her teaching career in Lynchburg City Schools as a 4th grade teacher at R. S. Payne Elementary School in 1999.
Ms. Gray’s extensive experience in classroom management combined with her strong collaboration skills will help to ensure a positive learning environment under her leadership at Linkhorne Elementary School.
Ms. Gray earned a master’s degree in Educational Leadership PK-12 from Lynchburg College in 2015. She received her bachelor’s degree in Education NK-8 from Liberty University in 1997.
