A dozen students at Dearington Elementary School received “Golden Tickets” for their month-long pledge to read an extra 15 minutes each night during the month of February. Of those 12, six have a chance at being visited at their homes by the DESI Reading Prize Patrol.
These 12 students were randomly selected out of more than 30 students who pledged and completed the February reading challenge. The Reading Prize Patrol, a spin-off of the fall Math Prize Patrol, is comprised of school and school division administrators, DESI teachers and staff, and members of the community, including parents and Lynchburg police officers.
