Attention: All Sixth Grade Students!
Thursday, August 18, 2011

Sixth grade students are invited to a special orientation program at your middle school. The program will be held Thursday, August 18, 2011. The purposes of the program are

  • To learn about your bus rules and expectations,
  • To practice what to do when you first arrive at school,
  • To find your locker and learn how to open it,
  • To walk through your daily schedule,
  • To learn the general rules of the school,
  • To meet your teachers, principals, and cafeteria workers,
  • To learn cafeteria procedures, and
  • To find your bus at the end of the school day.

How do you get to school, and how do you return home?

  • You will be able to ride the bus to school on Thursday morning.
  • Bus information will be available at registration.
  • You should be at your bus stop at least 5 minutes before the time listed on your bus schedule.
  • If you ride in a car or walk to school, you should plan to arrive by 8:00.
  • You will stay at school until 10:45, at which time buses will deliver you to your bus stop.
  • If a parent is planning to pick you up, your parent should be at school by 10:45.

What else do I need to know?

  • BRING YOUR ORIGINAL DAILY SCHEDULE WITH YOU!
  • BRING YOUR LOCKER NUMBER AND COMBINATION WITH YOU!
  • You do not need to bring any other school supplies, but BRING YOUR SCHEDULE AND LOCKER INFORMATION!
  • A light snack will be provided in the cafeteria.
  • There is no charge for this snack. You will not need to bring any money on Thursday.
  • Orientation Day—Thursday, August 18—is not an official school day so if you are not able to attend, do not worry.
  • Your first official day of school is Monday, August 22.
  • This day is designed for students. Parents are encouraged to let their children attend this orientation day on their own.

If there are any questions or concerns, please contact your school’s principal.
