The Evening of Elegance

Virginia School of the Arts is celebrating its 25th Anniversary during its annual performance, The Evening of Elegance. A long-standing tradition in the Lynchburg community, this year’s performance will feature the talented dance students from Virginia School of the Arts as well as returning VSA alumni who continue to dance professionally.
The Evening of Elegance will delight audiences with two performances on Saturday, May 8th at 7:00 p.m. and on Mother’s Day Sunday, May 9th at 2:00 p.m. at E. C. Glass High School Auditorium.
This year’s dynamic performance will include VSA alumni Jarvis McKinley, who dances with Alvin Ailey American Dance Center, Rob Morrow of the Dayton Ballet, Jamal Jackson, a student at SMU, and Lynchburg native Anna Porter, currently with Columbia Classical Ballet. Additional guest artists from Miami City Ballet will perform. The VSA alumni and current students will share the stage in the evening’s finale choreographed by internationally recognized dancer, teacher, and choreographer Christopher Huggins.
Tyrone Brooks, Artistic Director of Virginia School of the Arts, has worked to create this special anniversary performance as a thank you to the Central Virginia community. “We want everyone to attend to see the past, present, and future of Virginia School of the Arts through these fantastic dancers. We have mindfully kept our ticket prices affordable – as a way to encourage everyone throughout the community to attend and as our way to say thank you to Lynchburg for its years of support.” Brooks also hopes the addition of a matinee performance on Mother’s Day will offer a way for families to share together in a special afternoon of dance, music, and theatre.
